Posted: Monday, December 31, 2012

On December 28th, 2012 a report was called in about LCPOA Gate at the Boat Launch Ramp parking lot being damaged. The Boat Launch Committee investigated the damage and found the gate had been pushed open while in a partially open position and was inoperative.

The Boat Launch Committee made inquiries of the last member to launch and as of December 23rd everything was in working order at that time. This was verified by other visitors interviewed on December 30th.

The gate was bent in two different places due to the angle at which the gate opens which accommodate the slope of the hill. It was determined the best way to fix the gate immediately and not delay any boaters was to make cuts partially through the bend points and then spreading open the gate to a straight position and then welding angle & strapping steel across the cuts.

The gate is 95% repaired, due to the extra metal strapping on the top rail the gate is a bit wider now that before. The rollers that guide the gate were originally built to inside distance to only accommodate the gate; now that the top rail is wider the rollers will have to be adjusted. This work will be done the first week in January 2013. The importance of this when the electric power to the gate is off the gate opener will automatically open the gate so that boaters will be able to leave the ramp. Currently this part of the opener is disabled until the rollers can be adjusted.

The Association wishes to thank Jeff Hooper of Eagle Mountain Industries and a resident of Lake Country Estates for coming to our rescue. Jeff came quickly and worked tirelessly to repair the gate. He gave up his Sunday afternoon past Sunday (December 30th) to repair the gate and at no cost to the Association.

Thank You Jeff!
